Muay Thai Boran Punches 5: Khok Nasa

It’s been almost a month now since we restart the blog one more time. And I really think our blog is really useful and very knowledgeable for those of you who really want to learn Muay Thai. Not the one that is used in contests today but Muay Thai Boran or Ancient Muay Thai. And this Ancient Muay Thai makes people around the world know who great this form of martial arts is.

All you really have to do is to come here and learn one move at a time and make sure before you continue to the next move, you have practiced and learned everything about the previous move already.

The move of today is actually a bent punch. You might wonder what the heck the bent punch is. Well I am not the first on who call it this way; I just call it after other people. But let’s see how to throw this punch and that might help explaining why it’s called this way.

Ok this punch is used for attack only. The hit will be delivered by bending the elbow and sending the punch sideward and downwards. The targets of this move are nose and jaw. Try aiming to these targets. Even the inner wrist is bent to apply greater force to the punch to make it more powerful. If you want to use this trick, step your left foot forwards while twisting your body to the left and the punch will be thrown down in a speedy move.

Defense: Avoid looking down on the boxer’s feet or on the ground if he is wont to throw uppercuts. To defend against this punch, the left hand is held up to defend against the blow coming from the left side. The left arm is then swept over in a smooth motion to ward off the boxer’s right arm, and the body is slightly swayed to maintain balance.

Attack: Use your left knee to hit the boxer’s right rib with. If the boxer is e leftie, reverse the described moves using the opposite side of the body.
