Muay Thai Boran Punches 3: Wanorn Hak Dan

Welcome to our blog! Are you ready for our next Muay Thai Boran’s Cherng Mud. Again Cherng Mud basically means “how to punch”. So if now you are really into Muay Thai and want to know everything about Muay Thai, this article will be a good help for you. Pay attention and continue coming to this blog at least once a week to learn a new move and give it a regular practice.

The move of Muay thai punch today is a swinging punch. The name given and called in the past is Wanorn Hak Dan. Again this move can be use for everything; attacking, defending or even escaping for any attack. Let’s take a look at how to do the move so you can do it easily later by yourself.

First you have to swing your right hand to deliver a traverse hit towards the targets, such as, your opponent’s jaw or left part of the ribcage. Then you will have to step forwards with your left foot and use it to support the weight of your body. In the meantime, your right leg will be the secondary support and will be posted at the rear. And remember the power will be driven from a twist of your body and shoulders to the right fist as you are throwing it to your opponent.

Defense: The boxer’s right punch is thwarted with a sweep of the left hand.

Attack: Anticipating the oncoming traverse punch, the opponent throws a quick straight punch with his right hand to the boxer’s chin. This is immediately followed by a kick to the boxer’s right rib with the left knee. If the boxer uses his left hand to deliver the swinging fist, then the punches and the kicks used for Attacking and countering the attacks should be reversed.

Muay Thai Boran Punches 2: Prapai Lom Singkorn

Punching moves from the ancient Muay Thai still continues with us today. The next one is also the straight fist but this time this punch will be followed by another attacking trick. I try to put this up not too close to the previous one because I really want you to use sometimes practicing and be familiar with the first move I taught you last time.

This move is called in ancient “Prapai Lom Singkorn”. There’s no need to know what that literally means because it won’t help you get any better if you don’t try and practice the move. And just like the previous one this move can also be used for attack, defense and also escape. And I think many of Muay Thai Boran’s moves are really useful and can be adapted a lot in many situations. All you have to do is throwing a straight right punch together with twisting the body to add the greater power to the punch. You have to be really careful with the distance between you and your opponent. A step forwards should likewise be taken with the right foot. And when you have done that, the force or the power will be transferred from the leg to the moving body through your shoulders to your attacking blow. The straight punch can be used to attack your opponent’s chest or chin.

Defense: The boxer’s or your straight strike is brushed away with a fist or an arm. If the boxer throws a straight punch with his right fist, the opponent deflects this attack with his left arm or left fist to wipe the punch out towards the left.

Attack: A right kick can be thrown to the boxer’s abdomen to stop the punch. If the boxer is left-handed, the counter kick is done on the opposite side.
