Muay Thai Boran Punches 6: Intra Kwang Jak

Let’s continue with the next Muay Thai Boran or Ancient Thai Boxing’s punch! The 6th one is called “Intra Kwang Jak” or the throwing a long punch.

To perform this move or technique, you need to know first what it is used for. The technique can use for attacking, defending and escaping. It is really helpful when there is a considerable distance between the two fighters. Moreover, this punch targets the opponent’s neck or face and is thus best used when the neck area or head is left vulnerable.

Follow this instruction to do the move. The boxer holds up his right fist in front of him, and right after straightening his right arm makes a step forward with his right foot. The long-range downward punch is then delivered right smack into the opponent’s neck or nose.

Deal with this attack: with a quick motion, thwart the long punch by moving your straight left arm above your head. Swing your arm to brush the boxer’s right arm away.

Deal with this defense: Forcefully throw a left swing kick, targeting the boxer’s right rib. If the long punch is thrown with a straightened left arm, make a swing kick with your right leg, this time aiming for the left rib because it’s the area left opened.

You can try to train this move. However, I recommend you train it with a Muay Thai trainer who know best about Muay Thai and help you correct any mistakes.
