Muay Tha Sao

Muay Tha Sao is Muay from Tha Sao city (Uttaradit province today), Northern of Thailand. It’s well known in the period of King ThonBuri. We know Muay Tha Sao in the name of “Faster Kicking” Muay. Muay Tha Sao style is finished the opponent fastest as possible by kicking. So, every attack are extremely and effective.

Nowadays, Muay Tha Sao isn’t popular anymore and have only few selected fighters learn. Muay Tha Sao also prohibited for foreigners.

Well know fighters

Praya Pichai Darb Huk who use Muay Tha Sao to defeat many oppornents in wars. He was born in Pichai city (In the same Uttaradit province today, near Tha Sao city). He skillful in high Kick since 14 years old. He went to be Muay student of Master Theng. When 18 years old, he went to Tha Sao and learn Muay Tha Sao from Master Maek. In that time, he won over Master Nin skillful fighter. (Since 18 !!) After that, he went to SawanLork city to training two hand swords.

Few years later, he was fight in front of King Tarksin. He won over Master Hav and Master Muk. Top skill Master of Tark city. King Tarksin very pleasure and give him money and invite him to be soldier.

After Ayudhaya was captured. He was the important soldier who help King Tarksin get Ayudhaya back from Burma. He was upgraded to be knight and sent to take care Pichai city later. He was the important knight in protecting Krug Thonburi (City after Ayudhaya.) He fight until right hand sword is broken (In Thailand, we called Darb Huk.) but he use the rest sword and Muay skill to fight until opponent defeated.

Pare LeangPraSert who win over Islam Cambodia fighter name “Jia” and Mr. “Jia” was death in this match. So, Muay Boran was cancelled from sport in Thailand by King Rama 7 and develop to safety fighting sport “Muay Thai” instead.
