Nai Khanom Tom : Legend of Muay Thai
Nai Khanom Tom was born in 1750, in the period of Pra Chow Tai Sa, the King of Ayudhaya, at Ban Khum village, Ayudhaya. Father name Mr. Kerd. Mother name Mrs. Ei.
He must stay at temple since 10 year olds because his father and mother was killed. He start training Muay Thai since he was young.
In 1767, Ayudhaya was defeated in warrior by Burma. Nai Khanom Tom was captured.
In 17 March 1774, After already rebuild Buddish tower in Rang Kung city was completed. Pra Chow Aung Wa, the Burma king, open festival to celebrated. Burma knight tell the king “Muay Thai is very skillful”. So,Pra Chow Aung Wa commanded Burma fighter to fight with Nai Khanom Tom one by one to compare Muay Thai and Muay Burma. Nai Kanom Tom win over skillful Burma fighter ten persons. In the end, Aung Wa the king said “Thais is very dangerous although fight by empty hands. He can win over ten opponents.”
So, 17 March of every years is “History of Muay Thai” day and Ayudhaya citizen build Nai Kanom Tom to honor him at the main stadium, Ayudhaya province.
